How to export a student XML file for importing into CASES21

Overview

This article explains how to export a Student XML file of AusVELS scores out of Accelerus Light. This file is then imported into CASES21.

A Student XML file must be exported from Accelerus Light and imported into CASES21 every semester, once your reports have been completed for the semester.

How to export the student XML file

1. Prerequisite: Import a Student XML file from CASES21
   • If you have manually added any students to Accelerus Light, you need to import a current student XML file from CASES21 to ensure the correct campus and registration details are added for these students. If you do not, the results of student who were manually added will not be exported to CASES21 at the end of the semester. Please note: Adding students manually is NEVER the recommended procedure - if it is possible to get an XML file from CASES21, this is ALWAYS the best and quickest way to add new students, even if it is just one new student.
2. Go to the Export Student XML menu
   • Log into Accelerus Light.
   • Select Management.
   • Select the Import and Export Data card.
   • Under the Export option, select Export Student XML.
3. Check for any issues with the students' results
   • Select Next in the bottom right hand corner. This will check if there are any results or issues with the student data to be exported.
   • Check the list of errors, ensuring you understand what they mean, and make any changes to the actions, where required.
4. Download the XML file
   • Select the Download link in the bottom right hand corner.
   • Wait until your browser indicates that the download has been completed.
5. Import the XML file into CASES21
   • Open or locate the XML file from where it was downloaded to
   • The file will be called Student_XML_Export-2014SEM1.xml (where the year and semester varies accordingly for the correct semester)
   • Copy the file to a memory stick or to a network location that can be accessed from a CASES21 computer.
   • Inform your CASES21 operator that the file may now be imported.
   • Instructions for importing the XML file into CASES21 may be found on the CASES21 website.

If the progression points are changed in Accelerus Light after exporting your XML file, you should re-export the XML file and import the new file into CASES21. Otherwise, incorrect prior AusVELS scores will appear in later semesters.
